    Mexico – International FinTech 2025/26

Mexico’s financial sector is entering a new phase in which U.S. national-security actions directly influence domestic regulatory expectations. The chapter examines how FTO and SDGT designations, FinCEN directives and the extraterritorial reach of IEEPA are reshaping compliance for Mexican banks and FinTechs. It outlines why traditional KYC and KYB approaches are no longer sufficient and explains the shift toward intelligence-driven, outward-looking models designed to protect access to U.S. financial infrastructure, strengthen correspondent-banking resilience and enhance Mexico’s credibility in global markets.
